To save more money

Since you will be meeting some of your energy needs with the electricity your solar system has generated, your energy bills will drop. How much you save on your bill will be dependent on the size of the solar system and your electricity or heat usage. Moreover, not only will you be saving on the electricity bill, there is also a possibility to receive payments for the surplus energy that you export back to the grid. If you generate more electricity than you use (considering that your solar panel system is connected to the grid).

To be eco-friendly

No greenhouse gas emissions are released into the atmosphere when you use solar panels to create electricity. And because the sun provides more energy than we’ll ever need, electricity from solar power is a very important energy source in the move to clean energy production.

To avoid power outages (off-grid system)

An off-grid solar PV system is a solar PV system that, as its name suggests, works off the grid. In other words, it is not connected to the grid.

The main use of off-grid solar PV systems is in places where the grid isn’t available like the rural parts of India. They are also very useful in applications like street lights, street signages, traffic lights where the grid might be close by, but it is more convenient to have a standalone or off-grid solar PV system.

Frequently Ask Questions

What is solar energy?

Solar energy is radiant light and heat from the Sun that is harnessed using a range of ever-evolving technologies such as solar heating, photovoltaics, solar thermal energy, solar architecture, molten salt power plants and artificial photosynthesis.

Why solar energy?

The main advantage is that it is a renewable, clean source of electricity. Solar power is also scalable. This means that it can be deployed on an industrial scale, or it can be used to power a single household. When it’s used on a small scale, extra electricity can be stored in a battery or fed back into the electricity grid. Overall, the sun gives off far more energy than we’ll ever need. The only limitation is our ability to convert it to electricity in a cost-effective way.

Will winter or cloudy weather affect solar power?

Temperature does not affect the efficiency of solar power generation, because PV systems get energy from solar light instead of temperature.
Solar PV system can also generate electricity on cloudy days, but the efficiency will be impacted by the sunlight decreasing.
When the solar system cannot meet the load demand or does not work because of cloudy days, the electricity from the power grid will actively make up for it.

How much panel capacity do I need?

Nowadays you don't make much money from feeding electricity back into the grid. So you need to maximise your own use of your solar PV and minimise your export into the grid.

The panel capacity depends on your roof space and your current electricity usage.

At Say Yes Solar, we will design a system that will suit your needs.

How can I get government rebate

The Australian government will give you a rebate on the purchase of solar panels. The solar panel rebate varies depending on where you live, the system size you install and on market prices, but typically, the incentive will save you between $2,500 – $3,300 off the price of a 6.6kW solar system.

Claiming your solar panel rebate from the government is typically straight-forward. However, there are a few things you need to do to ensure you receive your buying incentive.

  • Panels must be approved by the CEC
  • Your installer must be CEC accredited
  • You must claim your rebate within 12 months of installation

Say Yes Solar as a CEC-certified solar retailer, when you contract with us, we will do all jobs for you and our quotation is the price after rebate.
